Quick Setup

Updated on February 9, 2026

Follow these five steps to get the plugin connected and syncing data in under five minutes.

Step 1: Connect to Mautic

  1. Go to WooCommerce > Mautic Integration in your WordPress admin.
  2. You will land on the Connection tab.
  3. Enter your Mautic URL (for example, https://mautic.yourdomain.com).
  4. Choose your authentication method. For a quick start, select Basic Auth and enter your Mautic username and password.
  5. Click Save Settings.
  6. Click the Test Connection button. You should see a success message confirming the plugin can reach your Mautic instance.

If the test fails, check that your Mautic API is enabled and that your credentials are correct. See the Connection and Authentication section for detailed setup instructions.

Step 2: Check Mautic Fields

  1. Go to the Mautic Fields tab.
  2. Click Check Fields to see which custom fields exist in your Mautic instance.
  3. If any fields are missing, click Create Missing Fields to have the plugin create them automatically.

The plugin uses six custom fields in Mautic to store order data, cart data, recovery URLs, lifetime value totals, and coupon codes. These fields are required for the Order Sync and Abandoned Cart features to work.

Step 3: Enable Contact Sync

  1. Go to the Contact Sync tab.
  2. Check Enable Contact Sync.
  3. Optionally add default tags (comma-separated) that will be applied to every synced contact.
  4. Click Save Settings.

From now on, new customer registrations and profile updates will automatically create or update contacts in Mautic.

Step 4: Enable Order Sync

  1. Go to the Order Sync tab.
  2. Order Sync is enabled by default. Verify that Enable Order Sync is checked.
  3. Review the tag settings. By default, the plugin adds product name tags to contacts when they place an order.
  4. Click Save Settings.

Completed and refunded orders will now sync to Mautic automatically. The contact will receive order data, product tags, and updated lifetime value totals.

Step 5: Verify the Sync

To confirm everything is working:

  1. Place a test order in your WooCommerce store using a known email address.
  2. Mark the order as Completed.
  3. Go to your Mautic instance and search for that email address.
  4. You should see the contact with order data in the custom fields and product tags applied.

You can also check the Tools tab in the plugin settings and view the Sync Log to see a record of the sync action and whether it succeeded.

Next Steps

With the basics in place, you can now explore the additional features:

  • Abandoned Cart Recovery – Enable cart tracking and set up automated recovery emails in Mautic.
  • Email Triggers – Map Mautic email templates to order statuses for automated transactional emails.
  • Bulk Sync – Sync all your existing customers to Mautic in one batch.
  • Subscribe Forms – Add email capture forms to your site using shortcodes.

Each of these features has its own section in this documentation with detailed setup instructions.
